A charming story of two young children in Saudi Arabia who meet an old traditional door-maker and, through him, learn the age-old craft of mud-brick building. In the process, they are introduced in an entertaining manner to a new understanding of conservation, preservation, and ecology. They also learn how to make a small house for themselves.

Included with the book is a kit for building a model house, complete with instructions, building plans, and tools. Patterns for decorating the included wooden door and window according to the traditional technique are also included.
